On the ninth day of December, the children of Hokuto-shi experienced a day that will be remembered forever. A real Santa Claus and his elves arrived from Finland, Santa's home country, to bring joy and the magic of Christmas to the Nagasaka Kindergarten and School. It was a day full of warmth: presents, singing, dancing and above all smiles, which show the power of friendship. The children learned the Finnish Christmas greeting “Merry Christmas!”, and the whole space was filled with the magic of Christmas.
Over 30 years of friendship
Santa's visit was no coincidence. The warm bond of friendship between Hokuto-shin and Finland has lasted for more than three decades through wood trade and cultural exchange. Now this bond has been made more beautiful by the joy and happiness of children.
The visit was organised in cooperation with the Santa Claus Foundation, Norio Tomita, owner of the Tokyokan store in Helsinki, Kazushi Hayashi, former CEO of Misawa Homes of Finland, Yamanashi Housing Industry and Yatsugatake Finland Association.

Unforgettable moments - and of course a sauna!
After meeting the children, Santa Claus visited Hokuto-shi City Hall and met Mayor Kunihiko Oshiba. The day ended the Finnish way: relaxing in the sauna, thanks to the portable sauna. The sauna time brought a piece of Finland to Japan - and created a warm ending to a memorable day.

A common goal
The event and Santa's visit and purpose was more than a Christmas celebration - it was a bridge between cultures and fostering friendships. Santa Claus Foundation hopes that the event sparked children's curiosity about the world and encouraged openness.Thank you to everyone who made this Christmas miracle possible!
