Every child has the right to go to school. Santa Claus Foundation contributes to children's educational opportunities through donations in 2015. Santa Claus wants as many children as possible to have access to education and knowledge. Santa's gift will be delivered through Save the Children.
The international share of Santa's gift will be donated to Nepal, to buy school supplies for children from underprivileged families. The domestic portion of the Santa Claus gift will be donated to enable secondary school studies by providing textbooks for the entire duration of the studies. In addition, we will donate tablet computers to unaccompanied refugee children in Finland.
400 Nepali children get school pens and pencils for a year
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world. In Nepal, many children from poor families are left to dream of going to school because parents cannot afford to send their children to school. The financial situation of the family can be so tight that parents cannot afford to buy even the most basic school supplies such as pens and exercise books for their children. But you can't go to school without them.
One young person from a low-income family gets textbooks for the whole duration of upper secondary school
The support is intended for young people whose continued schooling after primary school is threatened by the family's lack of resources. It enables the young person to start upper secondary school and enrol for the baccalaureate.
Unaccompanied minors who have arrived in Finland will receive ten tablet computers
The tablets will be delivered to the underage units run by Save the Children in Espoo and Oulu. Save the Children has launched measures to help asylum-seeking children who have arrived in Finland. Without help and support, these children are at risk of becoming marginalised, falling into danger due to lack of protection, and experiencing further loss. Save the Children has set up units for unaccompanied minors in Espoo and Oulu in cooperation with the Finnish Immigration Service. Donations are used to meet the child protection needs of children and to provide everyday necessities for children and young people.
