This Christmas, Santa Claus is thinking especially about children and their well-being. Unfortunately, not all children are doing well. This year, Santa Claus Foundation's gift of support has been given to SOS Children's Villages and its Help Chat, which does very important work. Even before the crown, one in five children were living without adequate care. The interest rate pandemic has further increased the level of maltreatment in families. There are now many homes in Finland where children are not safe. When a child's distress is not seen, they have to seek help themselves. In the spring, SOS Children's Villages urgently launched a chat service for primary school children called Apuu. Child protection professionals and trained on-call workers help by talking and ensuring access to help, for example by referring the child to a school psychologist or a curator. In more serious cases, a child protection report is made or the emergency services are contacted. The vast majority of contacts are related to children's relationships with friends, bullying, fears, anxiety and parental concerns.
